Introduction to Nian Cairang

Nian Cairang, whose scientific name is Xu Qiang, male, Tibetan, was born on July 7, 1990 in Xiaozhenzhuang Village, Baleng Township, Zhouqu County (Xiaozhenzhuang Village) , called "Nido" in Tibetan), now works as a teacher in a small mountain village in Zhouqu County.

Graduated from the Tibetan Language Department of Gansu Normal University for Nationalities in 2013, with a bachelor's degree in Chinese minority languages ??and literature.

In 2015, we worked together with young writer Shi Xinlong to create the Sino Epic Gannan and "UCC&VELO" National Amateur Cycling Competition theme song "Legend of Tibet". Shi Xinlong wrote the lyrics, and Nian Cai let him compose and sing the song , once became the most popular and charming singer and musician in Gannan.

In 1990, he was born in an ordinary peasant family. His parents relied on the little money they earned from working to support him and his younger brother (Xu Niancheng) in school.

He has loved singing since he was a child. His singing can be heard on the way to school, in the fresh woods, at the New Year's party in the village, at the Children's Day at school... he can be heard everywhere.

As long as he can remember, his father bought him a bamboo flute. Out of his curiosity for new things and his natural sensitivity to musical instruments, this flute has become his inseparable companion from then on. I will take "her" with me wherever I go.

The melodious and crisp sound of the flute can be heard all the time on the countryside hillsides, grazing fields, and school classrooms.

On the Children's Day when he graduated from elementary school, he performed a flute solo "The Shepherd", which was well received by all the teachers and students in the school.

In high school, he wanted to study music and enroll in specialty classes, but his family was also very embarrassed.

Tuition fees for art students are very expensive. Neighbors borrowed money to pay for the registration fee. My younger brother is about to go to high school. These expenses are not affordable for a peasant family. So his dream of applying for a musical talent was shattered in front of reality.

In 2009, he was admitted to the Tibetan Language Department of Gansu Normal University for Nationalities, which was the starting point for him to realize his music dream.

The learning environment here is elegant, the ethnic atmosphere is strong, and the atmosphere is full of art everywhere.

In this way, his college life began in this pure land.

In the school, a certain department's literary evening is held every Saturday in the "College Student Activity Center". The students performing on the stage are all versatile, and the audience is more enthusiastic than the other. This has become a symbol of the People's Academy of Sciences. The highlights, they are all the scenery of this bright starry sky.

The college holds a campus singer competition every year. On the occasion of graduation, singers from the Folk College or students from the music and dance department will also hold a concert, which is very lively.

These strong national cultural atmosphere inspired Nian Cairang’s persistence in music. He began to participate in various cultural activities in the school, bought a laptop with the living expenses he saved, and began to collect information. Study music on your own, ask friends in the music department for advice, and learn relevant information from the Internet.

Slowly, his understanding of music evolved from his initial love of singing to learning music theory, composition, arrangement, and music production... He was always sitting in his small room in the university dormitory all day long. I am busy in front of my notebook.

In 2012, he participated in the college's campus singer competition and won the title of "Top Ten Singer".

In the blink of an eye, he was about to graduate after four years of college. He wanted to give himself a memory and give an explanation to the university during his last period of college.

On June 14, 2013, with the support of all the students in Class 2 of the 2009 Tibetan Language Department, he successfully held the "Nian Cai Rang Personal Original Concert" at his alma mater, Gansu Normal University for Nationalities. I received blessings and unanimous praise from school leaders, department leaders, class teachers and all classmates.

At the concert, he sang the original song "Colorful Mingyuan" that he studied during this period to praise his alma mater; and his love for the hot land of Gannan "Holy Land Gannan" , and the Tibetan song "Tsering Zhuoga", etc. This is the first time in the history of Gansu Normal University for Nationalities that students have sung their own original songs at a concert.

In March 2014, he worked as an ordinary rural teacher in his hometown of Zhouqu.

He is the only teacher in the village school with more than 20 students.

After a period of teaching, he got along well with the students and the surrounding villagers. The villagers had a high influence and evaluation on this young rural teacher.

While teaching in the village, he still worked hard to learn his hobby "music" in his free time.

In school, although he is alone, he will not be lonely because he has music to keep him company and talk.

He said, "Grow up in loneliness and become talented in loneliness", and he always encouraged himself. In July 2015, when summer vacation was about to begin, he received a call from the Organizing Committee of the Gannan Tibetan Legend Cycling Race, asking him to Composing a theme song for this event made him feel uneasy as he had been "reclusive" in a small mountain village.

In the mountain village in midsummer, the night was very dark and quiet. He did not dare to write because he was afraid that he would not be able to express the feelings that the lyricist wanted to express, but he wanted to write urgently because The lyricist Shi Xinlong wrote about the positive attitude towards life of modern young people.

With excitement and thinking about the future, he wrote "The Legend of Tibet" with his boiling blood.

On July 24, 2015, the opening ceremony of the Gannan Tibetan Legend Cycling Race Sino Epic Gannan and the "UCC&VELO" National Amateur Cycling Competition was held grandly at the Shambhala Cultural Plaza in Gannan Prefecture. Nian Cairang, as a newcomer, At the opening ceremony, he sang the theme song of the competition "Legend of Tibet" and became the most popular and charming singer and musician in Gannan.
