Why has a simple musical instrument like the Lusheng become the soul of the Miao people?

First of all, we must start with the history of Miao immigration. The Miao people are a great nation with a long history and splendid culture. However, their fate is countless. Historically, the Miao people have experienced five great migrations. The first migration, about 5,000 years ago, occurred when the Jiuli Group, the ancestors of the Miao ethnic group, fought a war with the Yanhuang tribe group in the Central Plains.

After their defeat, they moved to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and established the "Three Miao Kingdom"; for the second migration, due to the outbreak of tribal wars again, they moved from the "Sanmiao Kingdom" to Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi of mountainous areas. The third migration occurred during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. After the Qin Dynasty destroyed Chu, the Miao people moved westward and southward. Most of them entered the Wuling and Wuxi areas, which are the surrounding areas of Hunan, Hubei, Hubei and other provinces and cities today.

The fourth immigration after the Tang Dynasty was forced by the feudal dynasty. They migrated westward again, successively to Xiangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi and other places; the fifth migration, during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, due to military disasters and natural disasters, such as the "Zijia Miao Uprising", the Miao people reappeared. The fifth largest immigration movement, the Miao people emigrate overseas to a wider extent. The migration footprints of the Miao people have ranged from the Yellow River Basin to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River to the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, covering most areas of my country and heading overseas.

There is a saying of the Miao people that "when the reed pipe sounds, the feet will itch." That is to say, when the reed pipe is heard, the rhythm will sound, and the feet will feel itchy, and they will want to dance. The volume of reeds is high and loud. People often describe reeds as "castles in the sky" and "mountain reeds", which can play a strong inspiring role.

The Lusheng is not only a musical instrument, but also an art that can represent the Miao people. It can use its unique timbre to demonstrate the customs and culture of the Miao people.
