The Gulangyu Piano School of the Central Conservatory of Music is a public art music school jointly established by the Xiamen Municipal People's Government and the Central Conservatory of Music in 2007. It is also the only school jointly run by the Central Conservatory of Music in another place. The school pays equal attention to majors and cultural courses, specializing in cultivating students from the fourth grade of elementary school to the third grade of high school, with the goal of becoming a model of central-region cooperative education and the second high school affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music. In October 2008, the school moved to its current location in Wuyuan School Village, Huli District. The school covers an area of ??approximately 45,308 square meters, with a total construction area of ??18,953 square meters. ?

In 2018, it was recognized as one of the eighth batch of standard secondary vocational schools in Fujian Province by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education.

The school’s teaching facilities include a professional piano room with 120 pianos (including grand pianos from brands such as Steinway and Besendorfer). There are currently 117 faculty members and 92 teachers; among them, there are 60 professional teachers, and more than 62% of the professional teachers have postgraduate degrees (5 have doctorates); there are 31 cultural teachers, and the proportion of intermediate and senior professional titles is 84%. There are currently 426 students on campus. The school focuses on music performance (piano), and also offers music education, digital music production (recording, electronic music production, composition), musical instrument repair and production (piano tuning, violin production), and music performance (strings). , vocal music) major. The principal of the school is appointed by the Central Conservatory of Music, and the current principal is Professor Li Xin.

From 2017 to 2021, the school has been awarded the title of Xiamen City’s Advanced Unit for Comprehensive School Safety Target Management and Xiamen City’s 5A Safe Campus for five consecutive years; in 2021, it was awarded the title of Xiamen City’s Law-based School Management Demonstration School.
