Yang Yuhuan is An Lushan’s adoptive mother.
Volume 216 of "Zizhi Tongjian" records in the tenth year of Tianbao (751) that the twentieth day of the first lunar month of this year was An Lushan's birthday. Emperor Ming of the Tang Dynasty and Concubine Yang gave An Lushan many birthday gifts. In order to win over An Lushan, Emperor Ming of the Tang Dynasty adopted An Lushan as his adopted son, so Concubine Yang naturally became the adoptive mother.
There is a folk custom of bathing the child on the third day after giving birth. So, on the third day after An Lushan's birthday, he was summoned to the palace. "The imperial concubine used brocade as a big swaddling clothes, wrapped Lushan, and had the palace people carry Lushan with a colorful sedan chair." It turned out that it was Concubine Yang who gave An Lushan a bath. Emperor Ming of the Tang Dynasty also went to see it in person and felt very happy. He gave the imperial concubine Lai'er gold and silver coins and generous gifts of Anlu Mountain.
Yang Yuhuan (June 22, 719 AD - July 15, 756 AD), nicknamed Taizhen. In addition to the mother-son relationship, there may also be a master-student relationship between the two. An Lushan is probably Yang Yuhuan's dance "coach".
The most famous Central Asian dance popular in the Tang Dynasty is the Hu Xuan Dance. Bai Juyi's poem "There is Taizhen and Lushan outside, and the two of them are best at Hu Xuan", which clearly points out that both the imperial concubine and Lu Shan are masters of Hu Xuan.
Hu Xuanwu originally came from the Western Regions, the hometown of Anlu Mountain. "Old Tang Book" Volume 200 "The Biography of An Lushan" records that An Lushan was fat in his later years, with an abdomen hanging down past his knees and weighing 330 kilograms. It was not convenient to walk, but he was very good at dancing the Hu Xuan Dance. He once performed in Xuanzong In front of him, he performed a Hu Xuan dance, "as fast as the wind."
If Concubine Yang wants to learn dancing, she must learn such advanced singing and dancing. Chen Yinke's "Yuanbai Poems and Notes" believes that Concubine Yang is good at Hu Xuan dance. Therefore, it is natural that Concubine Yang, who choreographed and directed the colorful feather dress dance with Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, learned the Hu Xuan dance from An Lushan.
