Su Opera is a combination of Huagu Tanhuang, Southern Ci, and Kun Opera. It is popular in urban and rural areas in southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang. The style of Su Opera is unique, simple, delicate and focused on inner experience. Deeply influenced by Kun Opera, the music style of Su Opera is graceful, clear, delicate and moving, with a strong Jiangnan flavor. The accompaniment uses the erhu as the main instrument, and also uses Jiangnan silk and bamboo. The state attaches great importance to the protection of intangible cultural heritage. On May 20, 2006, Su Opera was approved by the State Council and included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.
