Sun Meiting, male, was born in a musical family in Shanghai in 1981. He started learning piano at the age of 3 under the guidance of teachers Bi Meizhi and You Dachun. At the age of 6, he won first place in the Shanghai Children's Piano Competition and was hailed as a "child prodigy". In 1991, 10-year-old Sun Meiting was spotted by the world-famous Mannes College of Music in the United States and entered the school with a full scholarship. During his ten years at Mannes Conservatory of Music, he studied under the famous music theory master pianist Dr. Edward Aldwell, and obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in music at the age of 20. In 2001, 20-year-old Sun Meiting entered The Juilliard School to study for a doctorate under pianist Dr. Robert McDonald. In May 2005, she obtained a doctorate in piano performance. Became the youngest person to receive a doctorate in piano performance from the Juilliard School.
