The choreographer and director of this dance: Yu Lijuan and Luo Haoquan premiered; in 1986, they starred: Xiang Weiping, Pan Yuqing and Yin Aiyuan.

The dance shows the joy of a peasant girl after picking two baskets of fresh lotus roots. The choreographer skillfully personified two baskets of fresh lotus roots, and two actors wore lotus root-shaped skirt baskets to play the role of fresh lotus roots, and the dance started on the way of rural girls carrying fresh lotus roots. Cheerful music runs through, and the movements adopt Jiangsu folk dance materials and change and develop. The rhythm jumps, the steps are light and the waist and hips are smart. Because of the successful creation of the dance image of fresh lotus root, the works are full of humor and interest, fresh and gratifying. The performers are all amateur dancers, with natural and vivid performances and graceful movements. After the performance, they won wide acclaim and were considered as a creative new folk dance.

This dance won the first prize in the National Folk Music and Dance Competition held in 1986.
