How to choose bar lighting and sound?

Speakers are one of the most difficult types of audio equipment for bars to choose from. The reason is that there are so many brands that people often feel confused. However, speakers can be judged by playing music to determine their quality and choose a good speaker that satisfies your needs.

1. Transient response

The speakers should be able to reproduce the transients in the music. The sound when hitting the clavichord or plucking the guitar should be strong and accurate, and should not make people feel "surprised", "excited" or "slow" or "sluggish". In addition, naturally decaying sounds, such as cymbals and voice "tails," should gradually decay rather than come to an abrupt end.

2. Dynamic range

The sound reproduction at low-level and high-level dynamics should be compared. Ideally, the speakers should be able to continuously reproduce from the lowest sounds to the strongest orchestral sounds, without making silent parts inaudible or making loud passages feel inadequate.

3. Sound positioning and sound field (stereo) Listen to the positioning of the sound image.

Pay attention to whether the instrumental music or vocals are coming from the sound field of the space. The prerequisite is that the speakers must be correctly positioned indoors. You can find some monophonic recording products to listen to, and you can also focus on understanding other performances of the speakers. Speakers with good sound image positioning will "disappear" in the sound field, so that the listener will not feel that the beautiful and melodious music is coming from the pair of speakers in front. The music is blowing towards them, and the singer seems to be standing in front. Somewhere in the middle, someone was singing.

4. Scattering characteristics

Go to different locations indoors to listen. Can be listened to while sitting or standing to examine sound scattering in the vertical plane. At this time, the high pitch you hear will definitely change a lot. The "emperor position" of some speakers is only limited to a very narrow range, while some speakers can achieve good sound image positioning in a wider range.

5. Frequency balance

You can listen to the sounds of different frequency bands in sequence. The bass you hear should be tight, clear, precise in tone, not buzzing, muddy or unclear; the midrange band, which is the main part of the music, is more important. Vocals and instrumental music should be natural and sound. The details should not be too loud or muffled, nor too bright or too light. The treble should be open, airy and extended, without screaming or fading.

6. Resolution

Listen carefully to see if you can hear the details in the music, such as the decay of cymbals or piano, or the tones of a concert hall or jazz club. If low-level details are hard to hear, the speaker lacks transparency. This is also the difference between good speakers and crappy speakers.
