Zhangjiakou is a fourth-tier city, also known as Zhangyuan and Wucheng. It is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province. It is located in the northwest of Hebei Province, at the junction of Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi and Mongolia. It is the intersection point of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Bohai Rim) economic circle and the Hebei-Shanxi-Mongolia (Outer Great Wall) economic circle. It is the central city in northwest Hebei and a transportation hub connecting Beijing and Tianjin, as well as Shanxi and Inner Mongolia.
Zhangjiakou is located in the northwest of Hebei Province, with east longitude 113° 50′~ 116° 30′ and north latitude 39° 30′~ 42° 10′. It borders the capital Beijing to the east, Datong to the west, the Inner Mongolia Plateau to the north, and the North China Plain to the south.
