Wuhan Conservatory Of Music is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is one of the 9 independently established music schools in China. It is one of the colleges and the only independently established higher music institution in central China. It is a master's degree-granting unit, one of the first national master's degree professional education pilot units, and a social art level assessment institution.
The starting point for the establishment of Wuhan Conservatory of Music was the Central South Music College, which was established in 1953 by the music departments of the Central South University of Literature and Art, the South China People's College of Literature and Art, and the Guangxi Provincial Art College. The respective predecessors of the music department: the predecessor of the Central South University of Literature and Art, the School of Literature and Art of Zhongyuan University, its Wuchang Art College, which it took over in 1949, and the School of Literature and Art of Hunan University, which was merged in 1950;
Composed of South China People's Literature and Art The college's Guangdong Provincial Art College, Guangzhou Municipal Art College and Hong Kong Chinese Conservatory of Music; the predecessor of Guangxi Provincial Art College, Guangxi Provincial Art Teacher Training Class, etc. In 1958, Central South Music College merged with Wuhan Art Normal College to form Hubei Art College (named "Hubei Art College" from 1972 to 1978). It began to recruit master's degree students in 1979. In 1985, it was renamed Wuhan Conservatory of Music.
