Let’s talk about podcasts and podcast apps

I have always wanted to talk about podcasts, and I believe you will also like it after watching it.

Podcast is the Chinese translation of Podcast. Podcast is a combination of iPod and broadcast. Just look at the name and you will know that it is something created by Apple. However, it is a universal standard technology and is not limited to Apple. Platform usage, also available on Windows, Linux, and Android. It is similar to a blog. The producer publishes the recorded audio and video programs to the server, and then uses RSS to create a feed source for users to subscribe and listen to through the client. It is a special form of audio and video programs.

This is probably the principle. I won’t go into details. After all, there are fewer Chinese blogs now, and RSS is also an unpopular technology, and few people use it. Let’s chat directly about how to use podcasts and what’s so special about them.

When I was a child, one of my great pleasures was listening to the radio, and I still have a soft spot for it. In the years when television was first invented, many people judged that movies would decline. With the development of technology, movies have become larger and larger in screen size, and their vitality has become more and more vigorous. TV has also affected broadcasting. I remember that radios were still an essential appliance in every home in the last century. Nowadays, it is hard to find traces. After some years of difficult development, radio has become the only traditional media type in China that has seen an increase in advertising expenses, thanks to the increase in automobiles.

Back to podcasting, its technical principles are completely different from those of radio, but they are all related to sound. Private radio stations are not allowed. With the advent of the Internet, Internet radio stations have appeared. My alma mater has an Internet radio station called Four Seasons Radio. I also want to record programs. With it, I can record my own voice and let everyone I heard that this is the charm of the Internet. When BBS came out, writing no longer had to be submitted to newspapers and magazines for publication, and online radio also gave everyone the opportunity to become an anchor. Podcasts are simply understood as online radio stations and online TVs that can be subscribed to and aggregated. You can watch them at any time without missing a single program. This is something that radio and television cannot do.

Podcasts are basically audio video blogs. Interesting people from all walks of life around the world express and spread their ideas through sounds and images. When I learned about podcasts in my freshman year, it was like a new world opened up. World, unfortunately, I can only understand Chinese, some Cantonese, and English, and all I listen to are podcasts from Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

On the Chinese Internet in the past few years, online radio apps such as Moya and Tingzhi have appeared. They are different from podcasts and can be understood as sound publishers, similar to "Get" which is a digital content Publisher. The sound files of podcasts are stored on the podcast owner's own server and are not subject to review. However, uploading sound files to the several platforms mentioned above requires review by the platform and is a completely centralized product. According to my observation, Mouya and Ting are now mainly focusing on PGC content - inviting celebrities from all walks of life to record programs and providing technical support. Mouzhi focuses on voice live broadcast and two-dimensional, and also provides podcast hosting services.

I have been listening to podcasts for seven or eight years, and I don’t know the anchors behind the voices, but they seem to have been friends for a long time. Some time ago, I accidentally added the WeChat account of Master Bao, a scientist from "Triceratops Radio" , I was excited for a long time. Below, I recommend a few podcasts that I have been listening to, or even listened to over and over again.

Triceratops Radio, I know the podcast because of it. There are three anchors, the scientist Bao Master Liang Yuan, who is now in charge of the Tencent Music 2496 project, Wang Lu, the leader of the Yao Orchestra, and the former Weibo music manager Sister Xiaoxian, this is a music podcast that often invites music critics and musician guests to chat and record programs. The three people’s attitudes towards music and life opened up a new world for me;

IPN Series Podcasts, including the completed "IT Public Discussion", and the currently updated "One Day World", "Beauty Selection", etc. This is a podcast group in which a group of people participate. Through "IT Public Discussion", I got to know Li Ruyi and Rio, after the latter left, it was upgraded to Li Ruyi's "One Day World";

Movie viewing trends & villain film reviews, the former is a movie podcast produced by three anchors: Bomi, Xuanmu, and Liu Shiyang , due to the departure of Liu Shiyang and Xuan Mu, Bo Mi produced the latter, which is still a movie-based podcast. Bo Mi invites different guests to talk about a movie in each issue, and it is quite exciting to listen to it after watching the movie;

Update sooner or later amp; Nostalgic in advance amp; Crazy Investment Circle amp; Kernel Panic, Crazy Investment Circle is a podcast hosted by the two anchors Rio and Fengrui Capital Vice President Huang Hai mentioned above, Kernel Panic is a technology podcast hosted by Rio and Wu Tao, in advance Nostalgia is a technology review program hosted by Rio and Ren Ning. Sooner or later, it will be updated as Ren Ning’s personal podcast. Rio is so awesome; The video talk show hosted by Dou Wentao, the latter is the video program of Taoist priest Liang Wendao. The podcast is mainly audio programs, but there are still many video programs;

Dongwu Theory of Relativity amp; Dongwu Alumni Association, Wu Bofan and A business commentary podcast hosted by Liang Dong, which covers a wide range of topics and is very interesting;

Danai Secret Talk amp; Ritan Park amp; Marrying the Universe, Ouchi Secret Talk is a podcast group run by a company. There are multiple anchors. Two of them, Uncle Li Zhiming and the young man Feng Guangjian, left Ouchi and started a new podcast, Ritan Park. The young man and the young man formed a band called the young man. The young man Feng Guangjian, the young man and Mr. Li Podcast hosted by myself;

Gou Xiong has something to say, a knowledge-based podcast produced by Da Xiong, a programmer who immigrated to New Zealand;

You will die if you don’t complain at Peking University. Three Peking University students from The podcasts that were updated during school to the present cover a wide range of topics. One of the anchors is a VC, so he often invites people from the Internet industry for interviews;

There are also some that I will not introduce one by one, such as Bit New Voice, Ghosts in the World, Natural History, Lost Music, Quiet Japan, Friend's Chat, Word Talk, Wonder Radio, Left and Right, Blackwater Park, Badass FM, Machine Core Network GADIO Game Broadcast, Sugar Garlic Broadcast, Sounding to the East and Attacking the West , checked, etc.

Next, let’s introduce how to listen to podcasts. It is not recommended to use platforms that require review such as Yaya, Tingmuzhi, or even Cloud Music to subscribe to podcast programs (podcast producers often use multiple platforms to promote their podcasts. placement), programs are often deleted, and the experience is not good.

You can use Apple's iTunes app to subscribe to podcasts on Windows or Mac platforms. Perhaps because Apple created Podcasts, there are more high-quality podcast apps on iOS than on Android. Many students who use iPhone do not I have used the built-in podcasts, and it is a pity that I have missed podcasts. In addition to the official ones, there are also Overcast, Castro, etc. The Android platform has Castbox and Pocket casts. Google recently released an app called Podcasts, which finally ended the Android platform. If there is no official podcast app, just pick one.

Podcasting actually has more than just individual players. Professional players such as China National Broadcasting Corporation, the United States NASA, the British BBC, and TED have all participated. It is said that podcasts are quite popular abroad, and there are particularly many English podcast sources. There is such an interesting podcast, why bother using Douyin? Many years ago, there was a crime called "eavesdropping on enemy channels." Recently, the BBC podcast was banned. I don't know what to say.

After the revision of the WeChat official account, the exposure of audio and video has been strengthened. I think WeChat should be more open and introduce podcasts. However, as long as any media in China has great influence, the platform must control the content. Conducting a review is not easy either. In the future, when conditions are ripe, I may also find friends to create a podcast together.

I want to buy a car just to listen to podcasts. I’m tired of sitting in the passenger seat and listening to bad DJ music in other people’s cars.
