Rock music terminology: pop music characterized by downbeats and heavy repetition of simple phrases, often with elements of black grievances, folk songs and country music.
Rock music originated in the United States in the late 1940s, became popular in the early 1950s, and quickly became popular all over the world. Rock music expresses emotions with its flexible and bold expressions and passionate music rhythm. It is loved by most people around the world and formed a craze in the 1960s and 1970s.
Rock music introduced African-American "race music" to growing white teenagers. The popularity of this music brought black musicians into contact with white audiences, and white musicians into contact with black audiences. Cross-cultural contagion promotes mutual understanding between races. The first work in history to be labeled as rock and roll was "Rock and Roll All Day" recorded by white American musician Bill Haley in the mid-1950s.
