NetEase Business Management Trainee Interview Experience Sharing

NetEase’s internal promotion started during the summer vacation, and I also submitted my resume. I applied for the Business Management Traineeship of NetEase Kaola Overseas Shopping, coordinates Hangzhou, at that time, I had the mentality of giving it a try, but I didn’t expect to be lucky enough to reach the end. Although the ending was that I was not hired, I still want to share this experience with you:

About half a month later, I received a call from one of them, because I was unprepared at the time. , so the street phone call started with excitement, some stammering and incoherence. Fortunately, I didn’t ask any professional questions. I mainly asked some basic personal information questions, and then the rest was all about why I applied for this position and my understanding of this position. She asked because my internship experience was all related to media and content, so she was curious about why I applied for such a position that had nothing to do with my internship experience. Because I am also a user of Koala, so we talked. I talked about some of my suggestions and thoughts about koalas for less than 20 minutes. At that time, I felt terrible and I should fail.

This time the wait took longer. More than half a month later, I received a call from NetEase HR, informing me that I would go to Hangzhou for an interview on September 7. I was very excited at the time, but there was one thing that was wrong. I studied journalism for my master's degree, and my undergraduate degree was in English. My internship had nothing to do with e-commerce or business, so I should have made more preparations. Okay, let’s get straight to the point. I arrived at NetEase headquarters on the morning of the 7th. The hall was already full of interview students. I asked about whether there would be social recruitment, referrals to regular positions, etc. on that day. I roughly estimated that about 80 people participated in the interview that day, divided by market. and business, and the interview lasted from the 7th to the 12th. The interviews on the day were divided into two groups, two at 9:30 and 10:30. There were 4 groups in each group, with 10 people in each group. The interview sessions on the day were group interview - professional interview - director & HR interview.

The group interview lasts 40 minutes. It is worth noting that when others are interviewing, you must do something, such as quickly getting to know the team members and getting familiar with each other’s faces, names, schools, etc. , it is very impolite to directly call others "hey" during a discussion, but now, in general leaderless group meetings, blank paper and markers are given to the interviewers to write their names, because the interviewers can't remember so many people, hahaha. Okay, after we got acquainted, we quickly reached a common understanding, which is: there must be no quarrels later, everyone must have a chance to speak, and no personal heroes can be played. This is also the most important reason why our group suffered heavy casualties. The interview started. Three interviewers (heads of the business and marketing departments, I don’t remember if there was HR) took us to a small conference room. We sat down by ourselves, and then the interviewers handed out questions, roughly: I’ll give you 100,000 yuan. , allowing you to prepare for the "Idol Campus Music Festival" and form a complete plan through group discussions. At that time, there was a girl and a boy playing time controller at the same time, which was very bad. Then we discussed the entire discussion process. Each person elaborated for 1.5 minutes, then discussed, and finally summarized the statement (I can’t remember the specific time allocation. But be sure to ask clearly during the group meeting that the presentation time package is not included). In the personal statement section, it is recommended to speak first if you have an idea. It is not advantageous to speak later. The situation was very intense and it was difficult to get in the conversation. I was the third one to speak first. My explanation was based on the market research before the event—— Cooperation with campus platforms or groups during the event - evaluation of effects after the event. Later, our group had disagreements during the discussion. In terms of limited funds, one party insisted on inviting the campus’ own idol celebrities, which I disagreed with. There are two relatively strong members in the group, so it is difficult for some weak members to get the opportunity to speak. Finally, we divided into two groups through negotiation. One group discussed the allocation of funds in various aspects, and the other group discussed the presentation of the final results. I am For the funding group, I still insist that we cannot invite campus idols, but we can do hot spots, so here I put forward an idea, which is to invite idols related to universities, similar to family ties, such as Li Jian to Tsinghua University. In the end, only 3 people from our group passed, and those who were strong or went astray in their speeches were all screened out.

I summarized that the reason why I passed it was probably because my overall process was on the right track, activities were the main body, not the funding, and I provided an idea. Therefore, the assessment dimensions of the group meeting are participation and contribution. You must speak actively and not talk nonsense.

The afternoon professional interview was scheduled for 1:00, but we actually waited until around 2:30. NetEase's one-sided interview is very relaxed and casual. Everyone is interviewing at the same time in a large open space. The not-so-quiet environment makes people less nervous. I was the first one-sided person among the three of us who had gone through the group interview. My interviewer was a female supervisor from Kaola, who was very gentle. If the group interview gave me the feeling of a war, the professional interview was like Chatting comfortably with my sister. First, introduce yourself first, there is no time limit, and then my sister starts to look for resumes, so you must prepare the relevant experience on your resume before the interview, and you must not make up your experience. After asking about resumes, we started to talk about koalas, and I still talk about me. My purchasing experience and understanding of overseas shopping also talked about my understanding of NetEase’s corporate culture, as well as my experience and analysis of NetEase Kaola’s competitive products. I will also ask one or two of my questions. Finally, sister Say I agree with what you said. I knew that if nothing unexpected happened, I would pass this level. The professional interview lasted about 20 minutes.

After waiting for more than an hour, my director interview began. Different from the open interview environment of the professional interview, the director interview was in a closed cubicle, 2V1, with the director and HR interviewing at the same time. First, the director asked questions, and finally HR asked. At the beginning, it was still about self-introduction. The director first asked me about my internship experience, for example, how did you feel the importance of unity during this internship? Then he asked me why I applied for this position, and then started talking about koalas. I dug a hole for myself here, because I have an undergraduate degree in English. I emphasized my English ability, and then the director asked me to do koalas in English. I didn’t prepare any relevant content before for the overseas shopping introduction. As a result, I got stuck on the maternal and infant products. Finally, I ended up stumbling to the end of this English introduction. Later, in order to make up for it, I also talked about some of my thoughts on koala promotion. In the end, HR asked me some innocuous questions, but one question was very sharp. He asked me why I didn’t choose to work in the media and what I thought about traditional media. Or should I consider new media or something like that? The interview with the director lasted about 40 minutes.

Finally I came back and waited for news. Offers started to be issued on September 25th, but I didn’t receive it.

Finally, cheer for yourself and wish everyone can find a satisfactory job, AZA! Fighting! ;
