Song of Seven Sons in Macau written by Rong Yunlin

Written by Wen Yiduo

Composed by Li Haiying

You know that "ma-cau" is not my real name, and I have been away from you for too long, mother!

but what they took was my body, and you still keep my inner soul.

you know "ma-cau" is not my real name. I've been away from you for too long, mother!

But what they took away was my body, and you still take care of my inner soul.

My biological mother, who has been dreaming for 3 years, please call me Macau by her birth name!

mother! Mother! I want to come back, mother!

you know "ma-cau" is not my real name. I've been away from you for too long, mother!

but what they took was my body, and you still keep my inner soul.

That biological mother who has been dreaming for 3 years, please call her by her birth name and call me Macau!

mother! Mother! I want to come back, mother! Mother!

you know "ma-cau" is not my real name. I want to come back, come back.

Song creation background: This group of poems was written while Wen Yiduo was studying in new york Art Institute. Having lived in the United States for nearly three years, he has personally experienced the humiliation of racial discrimination many times, and everything he saw and heard has aroused his strong national self-esteem. Coupled with three years' experience of leaving his hometown, he became more attached to his motherland and hometown, and also deepened his understanding and love for national traditional culture.

Therefore, during this period, he wrote a lot of patriotic poems, on the one hand, he remembered and praised the motherland, on the other hand, he expressed his curse to the imperialist powers. This group of Songs of Seven Sons was born in this background. On the second day after writing Song of Seven Sons, Wen Yiduo called it "the voice of nationalism" in a letter to his good friend Liang Shiqiu.
