Song creation background: This group of poems was written while Wen Yiduo was studying in new york Art Institute. Having lived in the United States for nearly three years, he has personally experienced the humiliation of racial discrimination many times, and everything he saw and heard has aroused his strong national self-esteem. Coupled with three years' experience of leaving his hometown, he became more attached to his motherland and hometown, and also deepened his understanding and love for national traditional culture.

Therefore, during this period, he wrote a lot of patriotic poems, on the one hand, he remembered and praised the motherland, on the other hand, he expressed his curse to the imperialist powers. This group of Songs of Seven Sons was born in this background.
