Faculty of Information
Education: The college has accredited degree courses in IT majors in East Hungary.
The college has six departments and one affiliated department: Department of Applied Mathematics and Probability Theory, Department of Information Systems and Networks, Department of Information Technology, Department of Computer Science, Department of Computer Graphics and Image Processing, Department of Library Information, and ICT System Operations Affiliated Department.
The purpose of the Computer Science and Computer Science Engineering major is to train IT professionals with complex professional and theoretical skills, using scientific models to simulate the practical problems they encounter in their daily work. Students graduating from these courses will be able to supervise teams of experts organized to carry out these tasks and have the fundamental theoretical, methodological and linguistic skills to conduct research in their chosen field.
The teacher training course aims to cultivate teachers with high-level IT knowledge and teaching skills, and train teachers to become experts in information technology at all levels.
The purpose of the Library Information Technology course is to produce highly qualified experts with the latest theoretical knowledge of library and information science, as well as the skills required for its practical application, including information management and research methods in the field.
Currently there are more than 1,700 students studying in various teaching departments.
Research: In the 6 courses of the Doctoral School, students have the opportunity to obtain advanced doctoral degrees. In recent years, the school has been very successful in its applications for doctorate-granting rights. The school's main research topics include cryptography and computer algebra.
College of Engineering
Education: The history of the College of Engineering can be traced back to the establishment of the Technical College in 1965. In 2005, the Faculty introduced the Bologna System, which makes qualifications obtained at the University of Debrecen and those obtained at European universities compatible with each other. The Faculty has over 3,000 students and approximately 100 highly qualified and enthusiastic teaching and research staff.
