So in 2008, the size of cashew plantations in Benin expanded from approximately 10,000 hectares to more than 190,000 hectares. Data shows that since the beginning of 2021, Benin has produced 300,000 tons of cashew nuts. Of the 116,398 tons of cashew nuts exported by Benin, 15% came from cashew nuts from neighboring countries such as Nigeria, Togo and Burkina Faso.
