There is a mountain called Huangmei Mountain in Huangmei County, Hubei Province. People sang on the mountain while picking tea. This is the tea-picking song, and later developed into Huangmei tune - Huangmei opera. Anhui Susong said: This statement comes from the "Susong County Chronicle". According to records, Susong County held public performances of Huangmei Diao as early as the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, nearly a hundred years earlier than Huangmei County, which claims to be the origin of Huangmei Diao. Hubei Huaining said: Coincidentally, Hubei Huaining also has Huangmei Mountain, and Huangmei Opera originated from the folk songs of Huaining County.
This statement is the most reliable, because the singing tune of Huangmei Diao is the tune of Huaining local dialect and has little to do with Huangmei County, Hubei Province. But why is the Hubei Huangmei theory now generally accepted? This is because in 1958, Chairman Mao watched "Crossing the Border" performed by the Huangmei Opera Troupe in Huangmei County, Hubei Province. At that time, the chairman casually asked: How come your Hubei Huangmei Opera ended up in Anhui? The speaker in a single row has no intention of listening, and the Hubei Huangmei theory has been generally adopted by the mainstream view since then.
Bo Longju, vice president of the Anhui Huangmei Opera Development Foundation, said that if "the opera is named after the county, and the county is named after the mountain", and there is Huangmei Mountain in Huangmei County, Hubei, it can be said that "Huangmei Opera originated in Huangmei County." , then, there is also a Huangmei Mountain in Huaining, Anhui. There are two "Huangmei Mountains". Which "Huangmei Mountain" is related to Huangmei Opera? Mr. Bai Longju further verified that the language and tune of Huangmei Opera are based on the local dialects of Anqing and Huaining, and are completely consistent with the folk songs and minor tunes in Huangmeishan, Huaining, but are quite different from the local dialects of Huangmei County, Hubei. Therefore, he believes that Huangmei Opera originated from Huangmei Mountain in Huaining, Anhui, and his reasons and explanations are quite convincing.
Huangmei Opera truly came into being as a type of opera after Yan Fengying's "The Match of the Immortals" from Luoling Town, Tongcheng County was sung across the country, both inside and outside the Great Wall. Yan Fengying is the originator of Huangmei Opera. The landscape, customs and people of Luoling, Tongcheng (a suburb of Anqing City) gave birth to this outstanding Huangmei Opera performing artist. Without Yan Fengying, there would be no contemporary Huangmei Opera. Local people believe that the specific origin of Huangmei Opera cannot be verified, but Yan Fengying formed those minor tunes and folk songs into a type of opera. Therefore, Yan Fengying is the founder of Huangmei Opera. Therefore, the birthplace of Huangmei Opera should be Tongcheng, Anhui Province.
Mr. Liao Linan found that Susong has more than a dozen firsts in the development history of Huangmei Opera by consulting the "Chinese Opera Chronicles", "Huangmei County Chronicles", "Susong County Chronicles" and other documents. For example: the first one to specialize in Huangmei Tea Picking Opera. Since the middle of the Ming Dynasty, Susong people have performed Huangmei tea-picking opera on Songmeiling Street on the third day of March every year;
It was the first to write Huangmei opera repertoire into Liaohe stage couplets. During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, local people wrote more than a dozen Huangmei Opera plays that were popular with the masses, such as "Sending Fragrant Tea" and "Xi Lou Hui", into the Liaohe Stage Couplet; it was the first to hold an "official performance". Su Song invited Huangmei Opera from Caoye to the official county seat for performance in 1853, which was 81 years earlier than the "Huangmei Opera was performed in Huangmei County in 1934" recorded in the "Huangmei County Chronicle";
According to these records, Mr. Liao believes that , the birthplace of Huangmei Opera should belong to Susong County. This argument has received strong support from the local government and has formed a craze in the local area. However, the author believes that it is meaningless to fight for the origin of these traditional cultures. If you have this intention, it is better to save our country's many excellent traditional cultures instead of watching them gradually disappear!
