Cause

At 8:47 in the morning on December 23, 2009, the Shanghai Radio Dynamic 101 "Music Breakfast" program was live broadcast. As usual, the two hosts Xiaojun and Xiaochang tried their best to chat and laugh in Shanghainese between playing pop music. An audience member sent a text message to the program hotline. According to host Xiaojun’s recollection afterwards, the text message read: “Please stop speaking Shanghainese. Xiao Chang: Actually, I have never understood why he still stays here when he says he hates it. Xiaojun: Actually, I think this is a very funny thing. You can't say that you went to Japan and said to the Japanese, please don't speak Japanese, I hate you Japanese... As we are all Chinese, why bother? If you don’t respect other people’s culture, I believe that such people will not be respected wherever they go.

Apology

On December 27, the Oriental Broadband website, a subsidiary of Shanghai Wenxin Media, posted a post saying "Xiaojun, the host of "Music Breakfast", apologizes to the audience." The entire text of this so-called apology letter is printed text, and only the signature is written by Xiaojun. The letter read: "My inappropriate words in the "Music Breakfast" program on December 23 hurt the feelings of the audience. I deeply apologize for this and sincerely accept the help and criticism from the audience friends..." Apology post There is only a picture of the apology letter without any other text description.

Controversy

Xiaojun’s apology letter once again caused controversy among netizens. On the Maopu forum, many netizens believed that this printed apology letter showed no sincerity at all. "If you want to apologize, show some sincerity. If you don't want to apologize, don't force it." Some netizens also questioned that the apology might not be my intention, "Print the copy and you sign it, and use this to fool people?" On the one hand, netizens do not accept this method of apology; on the other hand, many Shanghai netizens also Xiaojun's apology cannot be accepted.
