at present, pop music has gradually entered the classroom teaching in public music courses in Chinese universities, which has been welcomed by teachers and students. For example, by using multimedia, choosing suitable pop songs to enjoy, and displaying music examples on the courseware, and combining the basic knowledge of music such as reading music, rhythm characteristics, speed, dynamics, harmony, mode and musical structure, students can master the basic knowledge of music while enjoying pop music, which can not only narrow the distance between students and music, but also improve learning efficiency in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Secondly, the elements and works of pop music can be added to skill courses such as vocal music, instrumental music, chorus and dance, so as to understand and learn the singing and performance of pop music works, and combine them with traditional and classical music works to expose students to diversified music works and styles, thus broadening their artistic horizons and updating the curriculum content. Finally, we can offer diversified and multi-level pop music appreciation courses. On the one hand, we can understand the development history and social background of pop music and connect pop music with pop music culture. On the other hand, it supplements and expands the materials and types. "There are many kinds of pop music, but only rock music and electronic music are popular among college students. Even in the singing style of pop songs, they mainly imitate famous singers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Fourth, update the knowledge structure of teachers

In ordinary colleges and universities, the teaching staff of public music and art education is not perfect enough, and the teaching ability level is uneven. At present, music teachers in ordinary colleges and universities are influenced by professional education and traditional teaching methods, so it is difficult to meet the learning characteristics and actual requirements of non-professional students, especially the lack of systematic study and research on contemporary pop music. This requires us to improve the ideological concept and professional quality of the majority of front-line teachers through various channels such as teacher training, exchange and self-study, and to act on teaching practice in time. Pop music should be included in the teaching content of public music elective courses in colleges and universities, and a set of effective teaching methods and ideas should be studied from the artistic characteristics and cultural connotation of pop music itself, so as to lay a good foundation for guiding students to learn pop music correctly. At present, the teaching concept and knowledge structure of music teachers in colleges and universities in China can't keep up with the changes of the times, which seriously affects the position and role of pop music teaching in the classroom. Pop music is constantly improving in the development of quality education in colleges and universities. In order to better strengthen the harmony and rationality of music education and teaching, we should conform to the development of the times, improve and develop pop music education, establish an extracurricular education system that combines classroom teaching with extracurricular practical activities, and give consideration to competition training and community activities guidance, so as to comprehensively develop college students' quality education and improve their adaptability in social competition.
