Zhao Lin, male, was born in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province in 1973 (the year of Guichou), the son of the famous composer Zhao Jiping. He started learning piano at the age of 5 and graduated from the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music in 1996. And won the title of Outstanding Graduate of the Ministry of Culture of China in 1996. Later, he joined the China National Traditional Orchestra to engage in composition, during which he created a number of outstanding national music works. In 2001, he established the Zhao and Son Music Studio and began to specialize in the creation of film and television music. In 2004, he was invited by the famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma to go to the United States to compose for him and his New Silk Road Orchestra. Three of the compositions were included in Yo-Yo Ma's album "ENCHANTMENT", which won the world's top classical album sales in 2005.

On the afternoon of July 12, 2013, CCTV officially announced that Feng Xiaogang would serve as the general director of CCTV’s 2014 Spring Festival Gala. Zhao Lin was hired as deputy director and music program director
