A Hundred Flowers Film Review

The film "Deep Flowers" tells the farce of a madman "Mr. Feng" who asks a moving company to move to "Deep Flowers" which has long been in ruins. Throughout the film, the director profoundly interprets the theme of the survival dilemma faced by traditional Chinese culture in the process of social modernization where the old and the new change through the unique processing of audio-visual techniques such as lenses and sounds.

One of the highlights of the short film is the background music with strong characteristics of old Beijing. The theme music is a piece of music with traditional Chinese charm. The most important instruments are Beijing drums, hand bells, flutes, triangles, and cymbals. et al. and Feng Yuanzheng’s brilliant portrayal of a madman—a character who failed in design but succeeded artistically, but not so much in the soundtrack.
