How can you simply take the initiative to get up early without using willpower?

I have been taking the initiative to get up early for some time, all thanks to a very simple method.

In the past, when there was nothing to do in the morning, I would sleep until I woke up naturally. But if I had to get up early for something, I would often squeeze the time and get up at the last minute.

Of course I get up early occasionally, but it’s not a continuous habit.

But recently, after I accidentally discovered this simple method, I can now get up around 5:30. Even in the coldest days of winter, I can basically get up and go for a morning run.

For someone like me who has had trouble getting up early in the past, this is very rare.

There are many benefits of getting up early. In fact, most of us are very clear about it. I am the same, and I have made the decision to get up early many times. But the problem of getting up early is not something you can just think about. At least that's how it works for me.

I think that people’s willpower is very weak at this stage before they go from sleep to fully awake - at least this is the case for some people, including me.

It is true that some people can get up as early as they want, but that is beyond the scope of our discussion. In "non-essential" situations, it is much more difficult to proactively get up an hour or two earlier than to persist in doing something while awake.

It is not so easy to rely on willpower or "dreams" to achieve it.

Has this happened to you? A thought that was firm the first night was not so firm when I woke up the next morning.

That’s the idea of ??“I want to get up early.”

So you still have to rely on tools.

Alarm clock? Yes, the alarm clock is a tool we need to use, but in the past, for me, the alarm clock was mainly to ensure not to "oversleep", not to make myself take the initiative to get up early.

So, what will you do if the alarm clock comes to wake you up in advance?

If you set an alarm clock to get up at 7 o'clock, it may look like this:

Therefore, for people who do not have the willpower to take the initiative to get up early, no matter what time the alarm clock is for the first time No matter how many alarms are set, it is usually only the last one that works.

Until one day, I happened to see Teacher Ji talking about a "double alarm clock" method. The same alarm clock has reached a new level.

I started trying to implement it the day after I heard it. (Haha, although I don’t have strong willpower to get up early, my mobility is still good.)

According to the set time, I got up at 6:30 the next day, and I was able to persist, and, I gradually adjusted my morning wake-up time forward, and now I wake up around 5:30 in the morning, which is basically in the dark.

How to do this dual alarm clock method? It's also very simple.

Let me talk about the steps I actually used.

The first step is to sit up from a lying position.

Many people set alarm clocks and often place them near the bedside. Then when you are half asleep and half awake, you can also reach out and turn off the alarm clock.

The probability of falling back to sleep is very high.

So, my first alarm clock was to sit up first.

How did I do it?

The mobile phone with the alarm clock set was placed on a cabinet half a meter away from the end of the bed.

In this way, does it make yourself more awake than an alarm clock that can be turned off while lying down?

By the way, the sound of the first alarm clock can be set to gentle music, which can make you feel more relaxed when you wake up than a harsh alarm sound. In addition, it is not easy to disturb family members who do not want to get up as early as us.

The second step is to get yourself out of bed.

Do you still feel sleepy if you sit up and turn off the alarm clock? At this time, if there is no reason not to get up, there is a possibility of falling back to sleep.

As mentioned before, people's willpower is often weak at this moment. In my mind, the two voices "Wake up" and "Go back to sleep" will be fighting.

I placed the second alarm clock, an alarm clock with a harsh ding, in the living room. Moreover, the ringing time is only 5 minutes from now!

What to do? You have to get up and turn it off.

The most important thing about the dual alarm clock method is the second alarm clock. Because if you don't get up and turn it off, you may disturb your family members, and even you yourself won't be able to continue lying down to sleep.

This is to realize the idea of ????actively getting up by using the conditions of passively getting up to complete the action of getting out of bed.

The third step is to wake yourself up.

I came down and turned off the second alarm clock, but I still feel sleepy. What should I do?

Just wake yourself up quickly.

Generally speaking, after completing these three steps, the initiative to wake up early for the day is successfully completed.

The reason why this method is simple is that the first two steps have nothing to do with willpower. It is external tools that push you to continue doing it.

The only thing that requires a little willpower is the third step, which is to stop yourself from running back to sleep before turning on the light.

But this shouldn’t be difficult to do.

Unless you really didn’t get enough sleep the night before and were extremely sleepy, you might break down here and turn off the alarm clock and run back.

What should I do if this happens? It doesn't matter, just keep sleeping. You ran to the living room and went back to sleep. I can only say that you need to sleep a little more today.

Allow yourself to have a certain amount of "lazy" opportunities every week, instead of forcing yourself to take the initiative to get up before dawn every day. This will actually last longer.

This time I was able to get up early for a longer period of time because I didn’t force myself to do it every day.

If you insist on doing it every day and persist for a few days, if you don't get up one day, you will feel that you can't persist, and you will feel that the plan is broken again. Then it will be harder to get up early.

On the contrary, if you face this matter with a flexible attitude, if you fail to do it one day, you will think in your heart, it doesn't matter, I will continue to get up early tomorrow.

Because, I have always been on this plan to get up early, which is different from the situation where I want to get up early every day, but then don’t do anything the next day.

This is why I recommend this dual alarm clock method. It is simple and easy to implement. No matter what the situation is, it will definitely allow us to leave the bed at the set time.

If you have the desire to get up early but don’t want to put in the effort, you might as well give it a try.
