Master Yin Neng: Regarding the reasons for becoming a monk, let’s talk about my mother. When I was 9 years old, my mother passed away. Before she passed away, she left me a message, asking me to become a monk. At that time, I didn’t know what it meant to become a monk. As I grew up, it became even more difficult to let go of my longing for my mother. It was so painful that I could not escape from it. Later, through the Buddhist scriptures and Dharma introduced by some Buddhist practitioners, I learned that there are eight sufferings and twelve causes and conditions in life. I discovered that being a monk can be so incredible. When I was 18 years old, I came to Gaomin Temple in Yangzhou to worship the old monk Shang Dexialin and became a monk. Starting from listening to the Surangama Sutra, through careful study, I learned about Buddhism as a whole, practice theory, Buddhist sutra chanting and even the rules and precepts. With a comprehensive understanding and a solid foundation laid, it can be said that without the nine years of Gaomin Temple, I would not be where I am now. In 2004, I was invited to Hongfa Temple in Shenzhen to perform the first Huayan Seventh Ceremony. I was the lead vocalist in all seven Huayan Dharma assemblies held in the temple. At Hongfa Temple, I worshiped the eminent monk Benhuan, the great master, as my Dharma master, and learned the body of Samantabhadra's vows. The Dharma title "Yin Neng" was also given by him. Master Yin Neng: There are many ways to spread the Dharma. This is a structural issue. As for why I use Buddhist music to spread the Dharma? First of all, based on the singing skills of the Huayan alphabet, chanting and singing every day in the temple can not only regulate the breath and exercise the body, but also learn certain singing skills. The so-called "Fist is inseparable" The music of the hands never leaves the mouth.” Only with experience can we carry out Buddhist music and preach the Dharma. Later, by chance, I tried to sing a song "Praise to Guanyin" in a friend's recording studio. Everyone responded very well to it, so I thought about it, could I combine music with Buddhism? In today's world, people's ears are trained to be very flexible. The requirements for sound are particularly high, and everyone likes to listen to good-sounding music. After that, I had more contact with friends in the music industry, and I came up with an idea: how to organically combine traditional Buddhist chants with modern music forms, and innovate Buddhist music on the basis of inheriting tradition, so that the sound of Buddhist music can be infused into every aspect of life. A corner reminds people to make offerings to Buddha all the time. I believe this is one of the best ways to promote Buddhism.
