Nantong University, referred to as "Tongda University" for short, is a comprehensive university established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport, a member of 15 key construction universities in Jiangsu Province, and a pilot university of the "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program" and "Excellent Teacher Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. The school's history can be traced back to the private Nantong Medical College and Nantong Textile College founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist and educator in modern times in 1912. The school is one of the first units in the country with the right to confer master's degrees, and it is the birthplace of the typical "Mo Wensui" spirit of spiritual civilization construction. Approved by the Ministry of Education in May 24, Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Normal University were merged and formed.
