On the evening of January 10, 2009, the famous lyrical coloratura soprano Wu Bixia and the music creator of "Dream of Red Mansions" Mr. Wang Liping staged a "Dream of Red Mansions" music-themed "Dream of Red Mansions" music at the Lanzhou Jincheng Grand Theater. "Amway Charity Night"·20th Century Chinese Classics·New Year Concert of Wang Liping's Works. The concert was hosted by Gansu Daily Newspaper Group and Gansu Charity Federation, and hosted by Amway (China) Daily Necessities Co., Ltd.
In the first half of the concert, Wu Bixia sang "Shepherd Song", "Island of the Sun", "Camel Bell", "Shaolin Temple", "Eternal Rivers" with the Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the Art College of Northwest Normal University. "Flow" and other classic songs composed by Wang Liping. Wu Bixia's almost perfect singing vividly expressed the "full of melancholy and infinite emotion" artistic conception of Wang Liping's "Dream of Red Mansions" music. During the performance, Wang Liping stepped onto the stage at the host's invitation to introduce his works and past creative stories to the Lanzhou audience. Wang Liping said that "The Song of Burial Flowers" was the "Heavenly Question" that he used music to replace Cao Xueqin and Lin Daiyu's "Heavenly Questions" from the bottom of their hearts.
This concert is directed by Mr. Wang Liping, the creator of the music for the TV series "A Dream of Red Mansions", with Zhang Lie as the conductor and Wu Bixia as the soloist. The "Iron Triangle" composed of three people cooperated with each other in a tacit understanding, and fully demonstrated the characteristics of "A Dream of Red Mansions" music that "makes people full of melancholy and infinite emotion". This concert allowed Lanzhou musicians to relive the wonderful melody and lyrics of "Dream of Red Mansions".
Wu Bixia is China’s first famous lyrical coloratura soprano who combines ethnic and bel canto singing styles. She is known as the nightingale who combines Chinese and Western styles. Wu Bixia and Wang Liping officially collaborated to sing "Dream of Red Mansions" songs starting in 2005. They toured more than 20 shows across the country, and the venues were sold out.
Wang Liping's works were mainly sung at this concert. In addition to the theme song "Camel Bell" from the movie "Passengers in Handcuffs", many music tracks from the TV series "Dream of Red Mansions" were the finale of the concert.
