Architecture Like Waves Flowing Design of Hamburg Philharmonic Concert Hall in Germany
Elbe Philharmonic Hall is one of the large-scale cultural constructions under construction in Hamburg, which is located in HafenCity harbour area of Hamburg. This giant concert hall was converted from an old warehouse. It is the focus of designer's design to combine novel ideas with historic old warehouses to create an old and new building. The outer wall of the concert hall is made of irregular glass in a wavy shape, floating on the abandoned harbor warehouse like a big wave, echoing the harbor where it is. The two large concert halls in the new glass building can hold 215 and 55 spectators respectively. Although the performance hall is a common "shoe box" stage, the designer puts the orchestra and conductor in the middle of the stage, and the big stage close to 1 meters high can hold classical concerts, new concerts and pop music performances.
