Why do independent musicians support free, while well-known artists are firmly opposed?
This involves the issue of interest. Well-known artists can often make huge profits by selling CDs, so of course they oppose free downloading. On the other hand, independent musicians, who don't have a large number of fans, don't expect to get a large commission through CD sales. Independent musicians rely on small brands for less distribution channels, relatively low influence, much less operating experience than big brands, and weak bargaining power when cooperating with websites due to a small audience.
