In Hebei and Shanxi.
Hebei minor tune is also called Xiaoqu. This is the most widespread and numerous folk song form in Hebei. The themes of minor tunes widely cover all aspects of social life. Representative works include "Jasmine", "Flying a Kite", "Sending Brother to the City", "Embroidering Lanterns", "Hebo" and Yongnian's ditty "Fourth Generation and Fifth Sister", etc.
Minor tunes have the largest number and widest distribution among Shanxi folk songs, covering all parts of the province. The lyrics of Shanxi minor tunes are also relatively neat and standardized, with seven-character sentences as the basic format, followed by cross sentences, and then five-character sentences. There are also many mixed structures of the above three forms, and there are a few long and short sentences.
