American film The Wilderness (2007)
I didn't know it was based on real events before I saw the movie, so I thought it was an American adventure. At the beginning of the film, it is explained that the owner has just graduated from a famous private school and he can go to Harvard for further study. His parents offered to help him finish his studies and get him a new car, but the young man firmly opposed it and asked emotionally why he always valued material things so much. (Look at American young people who are not secular. If it is our side, they will be happy to go to a famous school, drive a good car and be more fashionable. )

Later, the young man began to survive in the wild, giving up his car halfway, burning dollars, hiking through snow, desert and jungle with a big backpack, and looking for a boat to drift. The process is thrilling. During this period, he met different people. He was tired of his old life, and the relationship between his parents had a knot in his heart. He needs to completely abandon everything he has and start a free life.

The movie lasted for two and a half hours, and the front was relatively dull until he met an old man in the desert. After struggling to climb to the top of the desolate sand dune, the veteran persuaded the young people to put down their mental burden. When he drove the young man away, he said that his parents and himself were the only family heirs. His child died in a car accident in his early years, and his family would disappear after his death. The old man really wants to adopt this young man and is willing to be his grandfather. The young man hesitated and said, wait until I get back from Alaska. The old man kept looking at the young man with tears in his eyes when he spoke. This passage is particularly touching, and the old actor is really emotional. I wonder how the old man felt when he nodded in agreement. He just said, well, wait till you get back!

The whole movie goes through the time transition, and the flashback is a bit chaotic, or it may be because I didn't watch it carefully, while watching jiaozi. I really shouldn't feel this way now. If I knew this was a true story, I would never be distracted!

What impressed me in the story was that the young man failed to bacon after hunting reindeer. When he was skinny, he met a big bear and escaped by luck. He picked berries by the book and accidentally ate poisonous plants.

After learning that he was poisoned, he cried in despair in the old car in the wild where the hiker stayed. Seeing this, I thought the protagonist must be fine. After all, it is a movie!

He struggled to get dressed, lying on his back in the car, looking at the blue sky and white clouds through the gap in the roof. At this time, he had hallucinations. He came home and hugged his parents who had been deeply separated. He just stared at the sky, and the camera zoomed farther and farther until it stopped.

I can't believe this is the end. This handsome and sincere young man with a good family has passed away. There is a photo of himself at the end of the film, which he took with his camera before his death. He sat in front of the old car used for accommodation, with a free and satisfied smile on his face. The subtitle said that he was found by hunters a few weeks later.

The film must have been shot according to his notebook, and the writer of the script was neutral, without any criticism or praise, but when I saw the photo of the prototype of the film, my heart could not be calm for a long time and I had never been so shocked. What moved me, the tragic ending? The determination to pursue freedom? The impermanence of fate? Alas! I don't know, but I'm not calm.

Looking back on this film, I can understand why it was well received. Although the plot seems dull, the whole thing is really unusual. In addition, the original music of the film is very particular, and the music effect is so outstanding that even people who don't know music can't ignore it. No wonder Oscar was nominated for best original score.
