The main principles of the training direction and curriculum setting of the Department of Music Education are: to establish a dedicated mindset of wholeheartedly engaging in national music education, and to be determined to carry out unremitting and arduous exploration and practice for educational reform in this field; not only Proficient in basic professional music knowledge and basic music skills, understand the artistic essence and aesthetic expression of music, and have the ability to lead educated people to participate in music activities and appreciate music. They must also practice music through their own singing, playing, acting, and dancing. Lay a solid musical foundation and a certain degree of artistic accomplishment, and reach a high level of musical quality and quality to be a music teacher; you must be familiar with and master the national and folk music language, style and literature, and know how to use them for music practice and teaching. The professional courses of the Department of Music Education include: Kodaly and Orff music education systems (the teaching content mainly includes the teaching principles and concepts of these two systems, music reading and writing, teaching methods, chorus and Conducting, music and movement, instrumental ensembles and ensembles, choral literature, etc.), history of Western music, history of Chinese music, history of Chinese and foreign music education, theoretical basis of composition technology, introduction to traditional Chinese music, world folk music, principles of pedagogy, education. Psychology, instructional design, teaching internship, thesis writing, etc.

The specific arrangements for the teaching work of this department are mainly based on the existing teaching resources of the Central Conservatory of Music, and combined with the use of external forces to organize teaching. The main courses at the undergraduate level - the Kodaly and Orff music education systems all use original textbooks. From the beginning of the department, we have hired German and Austrian teachers continuously, in short or long periods of time (such as one semester in an academic year). Specialized teachers from Orff and Kodaly from various countries such as Hungary, Belgium, and Canada provide systematic and in-depth teaching, thereby ensuring that students of all grades in the music education department can master the advanced music education system in the five school years, and will be useful for their future career as a middle school student. Music teachers in primary schools or teachers in normal schools play an important role.

While introducing original textbooks and hiring foreign experts, the department has also begun experiments in establishing a national teaching system based on my country’s music culture and the construction of Chinese nationalized school music textbooks. At the same time, it has also carried out some Experimental teaching practices.
