It has a certain influence at home and abroad, and has also played a certain role in the history of military music art.
Creation background
197 1 year, in order to welcome the Asian table tennis friendly invitational tournament held in Beijing, the relevant departments requested the Military Orchestra of the China People's Liberation Army to compose a March for the athletes. In a few days, seven or eight comrades wrote the melody of an athlete's March. After some comments, everyone agrees that the theme written by amateur composer Wu Guangrui is better, but it needs further processing. Alliance leaders decided to send professional creators Jia Shuang and Wu Guangrui to accomplish this glorious task together.
In order to write the Athletes' March, Wu Guangrui talked with athletes many times, watched their sports competitions, read relevant sports materials and listened to some famous marches at home and abroad repeatedly. In the gymnasium, when the athletes entered the stadium heroically, Wu Guangrui personally played and sang this piece, asking the athletes to follow the beat of the music. Through the efforts of Wu Guangrui and other comrades, this heroic "March of Athletes" was finally born.
