AVEX was founded in 1988. Its company name "AVEX" comes from "Audio-visual Express", which is the largest record company in Japan and one of the largest independent record companies in the world at present, but it does not belong to the four giants of the recording industry (Universal Records, Sony boardman, Warner Records and EMI).

Its artists include Namie Amuro, Kumekuda, Ayumi Hamasaki, Every Little Thing, Ai Otsuka, Bao Er, Do As Infinity, Yamei Suzuki, Misako Uno (AAA), globe, TRF and TVXQ!! (Group activities have been suspended), Allen (Alan Dawa Dolma), Ayumi, the girl next door and many other Japanese first-line artists.
