Real rock music is not mainstream music in any country, but in some countries such as the west, their bands have successful commercial operations. There is a team behind a band to serve them. Like ordinary stars, they don't have to worry about food, clothing, housing and transportation. But even in the west, not many bands have such treatment. How many metal bands are there? In China, how many people know the big-name band "Choking"? They are walking in the street like you. Maybe not everyone knows. An unknown band? Even more pitiful, the money earned by the performance may not be as much as the travel expenses. If we want Chinese rock and roll to become the "mainstream" in our field of vision, we must wait for China's economy to develop. People will pursue spiritual enjoyment without worrying about food and clothing, and naturally some people will spend money to listen to rock and roll.
First of all, "rock music" is a genre of modern (western) pop music "Pop/Rock", that's all. The pop music we hear in China (you can also say Hongkong, Taiwan Province, Japanese, Korean ... Viet Nam) is almost all "western pop music". Secondly, the roots of western pop music are western traditional music, classics and folk songs/folk music; With its continuous development and integration into today, it has become the mainstream music form.
Why? Because in modern times, pop music (traditional music, traditional opera, folk songs, etc. ) Non-Western countries (such as China) failed to flourish with the decline of traditional culture, which was out of touch with the tastes of contemporary people. At present, I only know that Indians, Japanese and Latin Americans have integrated their traditional music into the modern pop music industry, which is also welcomed by the public.
