Creative background——
The melody was inspired by PuffDaddy’s dream. One morning, PuffDaddy woke up with a complete melody that lingered in his mind. He immediately went to the piano to play it and recorded it with a tape recorder. PuffDaddy thought the melody came from someone else's work, so he spent a few weeks playing the melody to friends and Faith Evans.
Ask Faith Evans if she remembers the origin of the melody. After asking people in the music industry, Faith Evans determined that the melody was his own, so he began to write the lyrics and used "Scrambled eggs, oh, baby, I love your legs" as the informal lyrics.
It was not until May 1983, when the recording of the album "iwillbemissingyou" began in London, England, that PuffDaddy seriously added lyrics to the melody. After the first line, "yesterday," came out, he came up with a second line for the rhyme, "all my Troubless Seemed So Faraway"; he also needed another three-syllable word, so he came up with "suddenly."
