The original version of the episode "My Motherland" from "Shangganling" was sung by Guo Lanying.

Sha Meng found a recording of Guo Lanying's singing. After hearing the news, the Central People's Broadcasting Station immediately took it and broadcast it as a non-movie episode. Guo Lanying was born in Pingyao, Shanxi Province in December 1930. She is a Chinese soprano singer, Jin Opera performing artist, opera performing artist and national vocal music educator. Member of the 4th National Committee of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and director of the 2nd and 3rd term of the Chinese Musicians Association. Honorary member of the 10th session of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

In 1982, he taught at the China Conservatory of Music. In 1986, he served as the principal of Guo Lanying Art School in Panyu, Guangdong. In 1989, he won China's first "Golden Record Award"; in 2005, he won the first China Film Music Special Contribution Award, etc.

On September 17, 2019, President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order awarding Guo Lanying the national honorary title of "People's Artist". On September 25, he was selected into the personal list of "The Most Beautiful Strugglers". On October 26, he won the title of "Lifetime Achievement Dramatist of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles" in 2019.
