Fuxi’s seven great inventions are:
1. Fishing net
In ancient times, humans had not invented farming. In order to fill their stomachs, they naturally had to rely on picking, fishing and hunting. At that time, according to Sun Wu's words, human beings were "weapons without hands." Without good tools, the food they naturally collect and catch every day is very limited. Basically, they just look at luck.
If they are lucky, they can catch it. If they are unlucky, they will end up with empty hands. In this way, people often went hungry, and Fuxi, as the leader, was also worried. Once, Fuxi was inspired and saw a spider making a web to catch food, so he asked someone to make a net with straw rope to catch fish. This gave our ancestors an ample source of food.
2. Captivity
It is boring to eat fish alone. Our ancestors needed animal skins to keep warm, so people often went out to hunt to obtain meat and animal skins. But there were no refrigerators at that time, and there was no invention of pickling. It often went bad if you ate too much, or it was often too late to eat too much. Fu Xi believed that the prey he killed was perishable, and if he kept the prey alive, he could keep it fresh and ready for use.
So he began to ask his men to kill and eat the big ones while catching prey, and to keep the small ones that were easy to catch alive in captivity, and then kill and eat them when necessary. Gradually, small animals grew up and multiplied, and more and more captive animals were gradually domesticated, producing today's livestock and poultry.
3. Chinese surnames
When people have enough food, the population will naturally increase a lot. But in ancient times, there was no marriage system, and people only knew their mothers but not their fathers, which led to more and more confusion.
When I wrote about the Great Flood before, I mentioned that Fuxi and Nuwa had to intermarry in order to continue the human race. At this time, seeing that the people are still in such chaos, it is natural to educate them. Therefore, Fuxi established a marriage system that required men to hire women to marry their fixed spouses, and used the animals raised by both men and women or their place of residence as surnames to determine kinship relationships to prevent intermarriage in the same family, thus creating the origin of Chinese surnames.
4. Music
People living a stable life naturally need leisure and entertainment activities. Fuxi really deserves to be a great inventor. He used his brain again and invented musical instruments such as Tao Kui and Qin Se to bring joy to people with music.
5. Writing
The earliest humans tied knots to remember. When a big thing happens, it is a big knot, and when a small thing happens, it is a summary. But this is just a hint, basically relying on the human brain and mouth, and cannot be known and understood by everyone.
Fuxi expressed things by drawing simple symbols, resulting in the earliest scrawled text, which changed the history of human knotted notes. Later, Cangjie created a more systematic writing based on Fuxi's talismans.
6. The early enfeoffment system and the supreme power system of the world
As the population increased, Fuxi, as the patriarch, could no longer fully manage it. If this situation continues, some people will not respect education and will not receive care. Therefore, Fuxi thought of this and let the people choose more leaders to manage it. He also divided the land and gave it to each newly elected leader to manage his own tribe. This led to the early enfeoffment system and the world's most powerful system, which continued to later generations.
7. Innate Bagua
This invention is the most famous innate Bagua. After Fuxi solved people's basic needs such as food, clothing, housing and transportation, he had free time to think about all the changes. With his own observation and thinking, he mastered the changes of all things and expressed them through the arrangement and combination of two symbols, one yin and one yang, thereby creating an innate Bagua that can reflect the laws of nature.
