Mendelssohn's works include finger Cave, an orchestral overture depicting the scenery of the Hebrides in Scotland; Reform, the fifth symphony commemorating the bicentennial of Luther's religious reform (the last movement adopted the hymn "God is our strong fortress"); Scotland, the third symphony like a symphony; and Italy, the fourth symphony full of southern colors and vitality.
