When living or traveling in Shanghai, it is really difficult to avoid Nanjing Road. There are rich business districts for tourists, and there are also many entertainment venues for nightlife. Although it is a core area where land is at a premium, the bar business is thriving on Nanjing Road, and it has many unique features. The most important thing is that the consumption in the bar is not high. Compared with a booth in a nightclub, which can easily cost several thousand yuan. I don’t know when everyone likes to go to bars, but Ahu likes to go on Mondays the most. Going to work on Monday is really hard, so I have to calm down with a glass of wine. Maybe because it was Monday, there were really few people when I went to Hypnotic. There were only a few tables and some people sitting and chatting at the bar. HYPNOTIC means hypnosis. The name is really attractive and gives you a full sense of atmosphere when you hear it.

Been coming here for the last few Mondays, this place is perfect for stressed out workers to have a drink and then go home to rest. This small bar is not a big place, after all, it is located on Nanjing West Road, but the atmosphere is still good. There are low consumption in the booths. If you are like me and just like drinking and relaxing, you can sit casually at the tables or at the bar.

The bartender is very friendly and if you don’t know what to drink, you can ask him to recommend it to you. We ordered a set meal, worth 248 yuan, which included any two cocktails and a black truffle fries. In addition, snacks can be replenished unlimitedly, which I think is very good.

The specialty cocktails on the wine list will change according to the season. I ordered a cocktail called "Black Swan", the base liquor is dark rum and brandy. The bartender kindly reminded me when ordering that this cocktail has a high alcohol content, about 30 degrees, and has a rich alcoholic taste with the sweet taste of chocolate and coffee, which I think is pretty good. My friend ordered a cocktail that is limited to the winter season. It has a lower alcohol content and a strawberry flavor, which is very suitable for girls.

Many bars in Shanghai combine other attributes. Some are galleries, some are cafes, some are bookstores, and some are livehouses, and this one combines them all. . This bar is a cafe during the day and transforms into an atmospheric bar after dark.

As soon as you enter the door, you will be attracted by the bookshelf on the entire wall. The performance in front of the bookshelf makes people unable to take their eyes away. The boss is very artistic, as if he has traveled from the Baroque era. That long curly hair is simply impressive. There are pianos, guitars, basses and a drum set in the corner of the bar. It is really a paradise for music lovers. You can go there to play instruments or take photos.

The walls of the entire bar are covered with bookshelves and books, dotted with a small amount of watercolor paintings, creating a literary atmosphere. In the evening, there will be a small band playing for everyone. The style is mainly folk songs and light jazz, which will definitely bring people a pleasant musical experience. But unfortunately, it was a weekend when I went there, so I’m not sure if there will be performances on weekday evenings as well.

3.Mixato bar

If you like cocktails, you can choose the Mixato Bar in Taikoo Hui, Nanjing West Road. It is said to be the largest Starbucks Reserve bar in the world. Cocktails are very delicate things, and the difference between good and bad is often a matter of millimeters, and an innovative wine list requires the skills of a bartender. Mixato's bartenders are hexagon warriors who score relatively high in all dimensions of cocktails, so they are highly recommended!

I ordered five glasses of wine last time. My favorite was the Island Warm Sun. It is made from black and white rum, jasmine tea and a little fruit. It is refreshing but not sweet, and has a relatively strong alcoholic feel. Lighter but still present. It would be more perfect if the wine taste was stronger, and the appearance would be very good.

Another cocktail called Qie Ting Yu Forest is a combination of gin, oolong tea and lemon. It has great layers and is slightly sweeter than the Island Warm Sun. These two are from the Teavana Special Blend series. I plan to try others next time, and they probably won’t disappoint me either.

The glacier shimmer is whipped with egg white, giving it a rich taste with a hint of cucumber flavor. If you have specific requirements for a special blend on the wine list, you can tell the bartender directly and they will make a drink that suits you based on your preferences. I told him I wanted something like a Negroni, a little more alcoholic but not as herbaceous.

Although I didn’t interact much with the bartender because the seat was full, the Max version of classic bitters I drank was also good.

Later, when I moved to the bar, the bartender asked me how I felt. I told him that there was too much bitters, so I got three special small glasses of wine, which were really delicious.

The atmosphere here is very good, the waiters wear floral shirts, and there are Chinese and foreign bartenders. The language environment at the bar is very lively. If you choose to sit farther away from the bar area, the lights will be brighter, which is very suitable for working or studying while drinking.

In terms of price, the classic cocktail is 88 yuan and the special cocktail is 108 yuan. The prices are quite reasonable. Generally speaking, this bar is not suitable for ambiguity, but it is very suitable for chatting with friends or talking about things.
