The Conservatory of Music of Guangxi Normal University is located in Guilin, a world-famous landscape tourist city and historical and cultural city. Its predecessor was the Department of Art Education, which was founded in 1988. The first dean was Professor Wu Chundao, a famous calligrapher and national model worker. In 2005, the whole school integrated resources to establish the Conservatory of Music.

The college is divided into Yucai Campus and Yanshan Campus, with a construction area of nearly 30,000 square meters. There are vocal music teaching and research section, instrumental music teaching and research section, keyboard teaching and research section, theory and composition teaching and research section, dance teaching and research section and school-level national music and dance research institute. The first dean was Professor Huang Xiaoming, the third famous teacher of Guangxi universities, a member of the Music and Dance Sub-committee of the Art Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and a master tutor.
