Creative background
Huang Yihe, the chief director of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, felt that there was a lack of a song that matched the entire program. So Huang Yihe found the lyricist Qiao Yu, hoping that he could write lyrics for the ending song of the Year of the Pig Spring Festival Gala. The content should include family reunion, reunion of the motherland, the love between relatives and hopes for the future. Qiao Yu reflected all the themes mentioned by Huang Yihe in the lyrics.
After the lyrics were completed, Huang Yihe hired composer Wang Min to compose the music. There was a dispute within the directing team over the unfinished song. Some people said that the song was not healthy and soft. It was like a sad song, but as the chief director, Huang Yihe was not swayed by the sound. He and Li Guyi insisted on recording the song. This is "Unforgettable Tonight".
