The "China Original Song Review List" co-organized by the China Light Music Society and Music Life Newspaper has had a wide impact on society since its launch in 1997, and has launched many popular songs. The songs and the singers who became famous in the future made creative contributions to the healthy development of Chinese pop music.

In order to adapt to the needs of the development of modern society, in October 2006, the China Light Music Society was officially changed from the former China Light Music Society to the China Popular Music Association with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. China Popular Music Association is a first-level social organization led by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. The renamed China Popular Music Association will unite industry insiders engaged in popular music activities across the country, protect the legal rights of the industry, strengthen industry self-discipline, standardize industry behavior, and actively develop the popular music industry with Chinese characteristics. Gradually establish a comprehensive system for Chinese popular music creation, performance, theoretical research, education, publishing, publicity, market, domestic and foreign exchanges, etc. Serve members, serve the industry, and serve society.
