Liu Mingzhong

Liu Mingzhong, a native of Shuikou Town, Xingning City, Guangdong Province, is a member of the National Higher Music Education Association, a member of the Guangdong Provincial Music Association, a famous Meizhou composer, erhu performer, music Educator, member of Meizhou City Meixian District Calligraphers Association, artistic director of Jiasheng Orchestra, and lecturer of the Music Department of Jiaying College. After graduating from the Conservatory of Music, he went to the postgraduate class to study under the tutelage of the famous erhu performer Min Huifen, composition professor Sha Hankun, and chorus conductor Ma Huashun. He won the second prize in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Erhu Competition.

Liu Mingzhong was born in a remote mountain village in Shuikou Town, Xingning City, Guangdong Province. During his childhood, there were a group of music-loving uncles, uncles, brothers and sisters in his hometown. Every bright and quiet night, these music-loving "Lower Riba people" would gather on the Heping in front of the house or meet by the stream to play Cantonese Han tunes "Dragon Crossing the River", "Grinding Tofu" and "Picking Tea". and the beautiful and lyrical songs such as "The Waves of Honghu Lake". Around them sat a group of people who were good at appreciating music. Liu Mingzhong was one of the frequent listeners. His father was a teacher and also liked music very much. Sometimes he plays an erhu or a violin and sings narcissistically. Liu Mingzhong also secretly played his erhu while his father was away, imitating his father's playing posture... His father discovered that he liked music, so he taught him how to play the erhu and practice simple songs. After practicing for a year, he was able to play with the "Lower Riba People" ensemble in his hometown. At that time, he was only 10 years old. People in the village were very curious about his ability to play the erhu and often asked him to perform solo in the group's art performances. After a period of hard study and practice, he was able to participate in cultural performances in the village with his uncle and brothers. He practiced playing the piano day after day, year after year, and received guidance from famous teachers, and his skills improved day by day.

"The credit is worth the effort." At the age of 19, he was admitted to the music class Banhu major of the Meizhou District Drama School. After graduation in 1977, he was assigned to the Pingyuan Mountain Opera Troupe as a pianist. In 1982, with his self-composed and performed erhu solo "Hakka Song" and his solid banhu playing skills, he was admitted to the Department of Folk Music of Hubei Conservatory of Music for an undergraduate degree. He studied under Professor Li Jianxiong, specializing in erhu. After graduation, he returned to work in the Meizhou Regional Folk Art Troupe and served as deputy director the following year. Later, he merged with the folk art troupe into the Shishan Opera Troupe. In 1988, he was transferred to Jiaying University as a music teacher. In 1991, he went to Shanghai Jiao Tong University to study in the postgraduate class.

Liu Mingzhong is a performer with many years of music practice. Rooted in the soil of Hakka folk songs, he was fascinated by the beautiful and melodious melody of folk songs, explored and pursued the "soul" of folk song music, and opened up a new world of Hakka music. He often learns to sing original folk songs from actors and goes to the countryside to collect folk songs. He also makes a special trip to visit Rao Jinxing, a folk song master in Songkou Town, Meixian District, Meizhou City, to learn to sing Songkou folk songs, learn about the creation of folk songs, and explore the creation methods of folk songs. After many years of exploration, Gradually mastered various tunes of Hakka folk songs. He collected and accumulated a lot of folk song materials and created a batch of new Hakka folk song solos and instrumental music.

The Hakka folk songs, instrumental music and Hakka mountain opera VCDs created by Liu Mingzhong are best-selling at home and abroad. His works have won many awards, and "Song of Jiaying University" won the national " "Voice of the Century" silver medal, "Good News from Home" won the third prize from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture, and "Hakka My Soul's Hometown" won the 2007 National Song Contest Excellence Award. In 2006, he went to the Concert Hall of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing to conduct Han music music meeting. Over the past decades of teaching, he has trained nearly 30,000 music scholars with students all over cities in Guangdong Province.
