The School of Arts of South China University of Technology was established on July 16, 2004. Its predecessor was the Art Department of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of South China University of Technology. In 2002, it began to recruit undergraduate students majoring in music performance from across the country. In 2004, it recruited master's degree students in music. In the same year, it added an undergraduate major in dance and enrolled students. In 2011, it added a broadcasting and hosting direction and enrolled students. It has a first-level master's degree program in art and a professional master's degree in art. It consists of the Department of Music, the Department of Instrumental Music, the Department of Vocal Music, and the Department of Dance.

The college currently has 47 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 7 associate professors, 30 lecturers, and 5 teaching assistants; there are more than 400 undergraduates and graduate students, and 33 graduate students[1]. Attached are the Youth Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Orchestra of South China University of Technology, and the Chorus and Dance Troupe of the School of Arts of South China University of Technology. The college attaches great importance to the introduction of top domestic and foreign experts and scholars to give lectures at the school. It has hired 6 foreign visiting professors (Lang Lang, Zhou Long, Chen Yi, Xian Xinyi, Zhuo Renxiang, and Huang Anlun) and 5 domestic part-time professors. The college also pays attention to Strengthen external academic exchanges and maintain good cooperative relations with foreign universities such as Yale University School of Music and the University of North Texas School of Music in the United States.
The School of Art is located at the Guangzhou University Town Campus of South China University of Technology. The school has a national experimental teaching demonstration center awarded by the Ministry of Education - South China University of Technology Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center for Liberal Arts, and Guangdong Provincial School Art Education Activities - Instrumental Music Training Base , South China University of Technology Art Education Center, South China University of Technology Popular Music Research Institute and teaching practice entities - South China University of Technology Youth Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Art College Chorus, Dance Troupe, etc. The School of Art has outstanding demonstration courses such as the Ministry of Education’s high-quality open video courses - "Enter the World of Symphonic Music" and "Entering the World of Opera", and Guangdong Province’s high-quality courses - "Symphony Orchestra Training and Performing Arts". The School of Art is equipped with a concert hall, academic lecture hall, orchestral, chorus, and dance rehearsal halls, recording studios, multimedia music classrooms, digital piano classrooms, and computer music classrooms, including multiple sets of orchestral instruments, ethnic musical instruments, combined multimedia recording and playback speakers, and 100 There are also other fully equipped teaching facilities including a piano. The professional data room including audio-visual materials, book materials, and sheet music materials of Chinese and foreign music and dance is also being continuously improved.
