North Shanxi drum music repertoire
Class clubs that play drum music are called "drum rooms" or "drum classes", and close people are also called "eight-tone clubs", which are found in almost every village. Frequently played songs include Eight Episodes, Victory, and Sanqu, such as Playing Zizyphus jujuba, Visiting Sister, and Watching Lights by Mau Nu.

"Eight sets" is a self-contained series, which is the general name of eight conferences: Qingtian set, dressing up as a platform set, pushing wheel bushing, twelve-story building set, scolding fishing lang set, proverbs set, goose lang set and encouraging golden cup set. Each divertimento is composed of several tunes in a fixed order, with the "gradual development" of speed as the main line, and then the tunes are unified to the same end. The "Eight Sets" are mainly composed of pipes, accompanied by sheng, sea flute and flute (among which "Dadatao" is played by suona alone), and percussion instruments include drums, cymbals, cymbals, gongs, clouds gongs and bangzi.

Among the "eight sets", except for the "proverbs set", the other seven sets are mostly used for weddings, funerals and festivals. Music is full of local flavor, beautiful, simple and lively.

Represented by the large-scale divertimento "Dadesheng", it is another type of drum music in northern Shaanxi. The choice and arrangement of sound cards are free and flexible, and the performance is full of improvisation, which can better meet the needs of various occasions in the traditional customs of the Han nationality.

In addition to the "Eight Sets", Shanxi advocates often playing local operas and music, such as Jin Opera, Hokuriku Bangzi, two-person platform and one-person platform. The repertoire includes Jin Opera, bloody handprints of Hokuriku team, the westward journey of two-person platform, Wang Po scolding chickens of one-person platform, and many traditional tunes.
