Wuhan Conservatory of Music is one of the nine independent conservatories in China, and the only independent conservatory of music in Central China. It is a master's degree awarding unit and the first batch of MFA professional degree education pilot units in China.
Historical development:
1953 Central South College of Literature and Art, South China People's College of Literature and Art, and Guangxi Provincial College of Art merged to form Central South Conservatory of Music.
Wuhan Conservatory of Music 1956, Zhongnan Conservatory of Music began to recruit undergraduates.
From 65438 to 0958, Central South Conservatory of Music merged with Wuhan Art Teachers College to form Hubei Art College.
1972, the school was renamed "Hubei Art Institute".
1978, the school restored the name of Hubei Art College.
65438-0979, the school began to recruit graduate students.
1985, the school was officially rebuilt and named Wuhan Conservatory of Music.
