In the south of China, there is a kind of grass, which is a perennial herb and belongs to Leguminosae leech. It is more than a foot high, and there are three leaves on the odd compound leaves. The front one is big and the other two are small. This plant is particularly sensitive to sunlight. When it is exposed to sunlight, the two leaves behind it will immediately float like feathers. It is especially obvious in strong sunlight, and it will be repeated every 30 seconds. Therefore, people call this kind of grass "wind grass" and "feather grass".
Long Wu's Yecao also has a "sister" named Yuanyuan Wu Ye Cao, whose dancing is more agile and moving. This grass is distributed on mountain slopes in India, Southeast Asia and southern China.
Besides dancing grass, there are dancing trees. In the virgin forest of Xishuangbanna, there is a small tree that can swing and dance with the rhythm of music. When beautiful music came, Xiao Shu's dance movements were graceful; When the music was loud, the little tree stopped dancing. More interestingly, when people talk softly beside the small tree, it will dance, but if it is noisy, it will not move.
What is the secret of this grass dance? This is a question that botanists have been discussing. Scientists have different explanations for this phenomenon. Some people think that this is due to the transfer of auxin in plants, which causes the change of plant cell growth rate. Some people think that it is caused by the change of the intensity and direction of the weak bioelectric current in plants. This is all from the inside of the plant to find reasons. Some people look for reasons from outside. Some people think that because this kind of grass grows in the tropics, it is afraid of water evaporation in its body, so when it is exposed to the sun, its two leaves will keep dancing to avoid the scorching sun and survive. This is a special skill to adapt to the environment. Others think it is a way of self-defense to prevent some stupid animals and insects from approaching.
There is no consensus on the real reason for this grass dance.
