Why are there no 4 and 7 in the ancient Chinese pentatonic pattern?

In ancient China, there were no pronunciations for 4 and 7, only Gong, Shang, Jiao, Zheng (Chinese Pinyin: zhǐ, ㄓˇ), and Yu, which are roughly equivalent to the roll call 1 ( do), 2 (re), 3 (mi), 5 (sol), 6 (la). So there are no 4 and 7.
