Mew’s album introduction

The first album "A Triumph For Man" was recorded by Damon Tutunjian, the mastermind of the American independent rock band Swirlies. It was released in a limited edition of 2,000 copies on the Danish record label Exlibris Musik in April 1997. Due to its scarcity, it was released on The price on the eBay auction website is as high as NT$7,000 to NT$10,000. The album was re-released as a double CD version by Danish record label A:larm Music on September 18, 2006.

The original album has 14 tracks, and the 2006 re-release added a CD containing 9 demo tracks. Cover illustration by Jonas Bjerre.

Because it was released at the same time as "Aquarium" by the Water Ding Dong Band, it did not receive much attention in the music scene where dance music was popular at the time.

《Half The World Is Watching Me》

Due to the end of the contract with the original record label Exlibris Musik, "Half The World Is Watching Me" was released in 2000 by its own label Evil Office under the record label Playground. About 5,000 copies of this album have not yet been reissued. It is intended to be released, so it still has a value of 4,000 to 7,000 yuan on the eBay auction site.

The album is released in three versions, with a total of 8 tracks, and a hidden track "Ending" affixed to the inner ring of the CD with a purple sticker. Contains the original 8 tracks, plus "She Came Home For Christmas" and "I Should Have Been A Tsin-Tsi (For You)". Due to the hidden songs in the first version, most machines cannot play it, and only the original 8 tracks are included. Among them, "Her Voice Is Beyond Her Years" is a duet with Swedish female singer Stina Nordenstam, and "Symmetry" is a duet with Becky Jarrett, a 14-year-old American girl at the time.

17. Ending "Strangers" was released in 2003. It was the Seagull Band's first internationally released album to join Sony/Epic Records, mainly from the previous album " Half The World Is Watching Me" has been re-arranged and recorded, and there are 4 new songs.

'Frengers' is taken from the combination of friend and stranger, and the subtitle 'not quite a friend but not quite a stranger' is added to indicate "not quite a friend but not quite a stranger". A complete stranger" meaning. The name 'Frengers' was actually born from the title of the first short film Jonas Bjerre shot when he was a teenager. In addition, ‘Frenger’ has also become synonymous with the band’s fans.

The music video for "156" was drawn by American cartoonist Ron Regé Jr., who is currently also a member of the Swirlies. Members of the group have talked about the meaning of 156 in interviews, but since it has not been published, the correct meaning is still unknown, so it is also called "Mew's mystery".

The fourth release of the DVD single "She Came Home For Christmas" specially includes the self-made Flash game "Frengers Game".

Japan also released a limited Christmas CD+DVD album on November 12, 2003. The DVD specially includes "Am I Wry? No", "Symmetry", "Behind The Drapes", " Background animated videos for "Eight Flew Over, One Was Destroyed", "King Christian", "I Should Have Been A Tsin-Tsi For You", "Mica", "Comforting Sounds", short film "The Pestilence", and "Comforting Sounds" " and "156" music videos, plus a red cardboard box with a Mew Angel Santa hat on it.

"Comforting Sounds" can be said to be one of the most famous songs of the Seagull Band. This song was re-arranged by Taiwan Mobile, a Taiwanese mobile telecommunications company, as the theme song for its advertisement "Three Networks, One Family" , but when I asked about the source, I got the reply "This was edited and arranged by the advertising company itself, so it is not from any album." Therefore, it is still unknown whether the copyright was purchased from the band.

"And The Glass Handed Kites"

"Perspective Liar" was released in Europe and Asia at the end of September 2005. The entire album consists of 14 non-stop tracks. It is a concept album of progressive rock. Among them, "Why Are You Looking Grave?" " and "An Envoy To The Open Fields" are two songs with Dinosaur Jr.'s lead singer J. Mascis. His deep and hoarse voice is in great contrast with the high-pitched tone of lead singer Jonas Bjerre.

Leader Jonas Bjerre also filmed a short film featuring drummer Silas Graae as the music video for "Apocalypso". The design of a series of singles released by this album is also consistent with the album design. Among them, the inner sleeve of the CD and vinyl of "The Zookeeper's Boy" was painted by drummer Silas Graae, and the CD paper sleeve given for pre-ordering the album was painted by the lead singer. Design by Jonas Bjerre.

The Seagull Band released "And The Glass Handed Kites" as their first album to enter the U.S. market in 2006, and conducted two tours in the United States. Reviews of the album have been published on major music stations. Not a bad result.
