Among the 31 undergraduate art colleges in the country, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xi'an Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, People's Liberation Army Art College, Yunnan Conservatory of Arts, Guangxi Conservatory of Music 11 colleges including the Institute of Arts, Shandong University of the Arts and Nanjing University of the Arts have popular (popular) singing departments (or teaching and research sections). Every year, art students who graduate from high school are recruited through school examinations.
