The Rose Waltz of the South was written by Johann Strauss Jr. based on the music from his 1880 operetta "The Handkerchief in the Queen's Girdle". The work was dedicated to the King of Italy, in which "Southern Country" may refer to the passionate southern European countries of Italy or Spain, and "Southern Country Rose" can also be translated as "passionate southern girl". The music is presented with a brisk rhythm and beautiful melody, making it one of the most famous waltzes by Johann Strauss the Younger.
